Notre Dame hopes to take a bit of an underdog mindset into this weekend’s games at Miami, senior co-captain Sean Lorenz said Wednesday.
They also need to outwork them, and if they do, there’s a better chance good things will happen, he added.
But first the Irish have to pull themselves out of the funk of a 3-7 mark in their last 10 games and a current three-game losing streak.
“A lot of things started to hit me,” Irish co-captain Billy Maday said of his thoughts after the 5-1 loss to Ferris State last Saturday.
“Recognizing there’s four regular season games left, is kind of tough to handle, especially after recognizing how much potential our team has and the expectations our team had going into the regular season.”
Maday believes the Irish are currently in a good frame of mind, all things considered.“I like where our heads are at right now,” he said earlier this week. “Real positive, by no means throwing in the towel.”
It’s not over, Lorenz said.
“It’s obviously frustrating, but the way we look at it, there’s still time left,” Lorenz said. “We have four games left. I think a lot of people overlook that.
“If we do well in these next four games, we’re in a good spot.”
In a wild season, that’s true.
